Special Audio Version of Covey's "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People" & "The 8th Habit"

I've read several of Stephen Covey's books and wanted a refresher on some of the things I've read recently referenced in articles and blog posts. I decided to try the audio versions of Seven Habits of Highly Effective People and The 8th Habit: From Effectiveness to Greatness --Good books, excellent insights and the type of positive growth I was looking for. The links above reference audio book CD versions of each book at Amazon.com, there are also audio download versions and, of course, the regular texts in hard or paper copy.

Ah, but if you use iTunes, you have another option - you can still download each book separately or - you can get the awesome abridged version that combines the best insights from both books: The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and The 8th Habit (Special 3-hour abridgement). I just finished the double dose audio book and it was exactly what I was looking for. Here's a description from iTunes:
This new audio set is a very special abridgement of two of Stephen R. Covey's best-selling business books, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and The 8th Habit, read by Dr. Covey himself. We've condensed the content of two entire books into just three hours of audio, but you'll still enjoy Covey's lessons on powerful personal change and how to incorporate his ideas into your life to fulfill your ultimate potential.
If you haven't read the complete books, you might want to read/listen to fully benefit from the content in order to get all context and excellent information contained within. I think $6.95 (US) for an intro or refresher into the Covey concepts is well worth the investment!

Raven,

I'm a PM who became an entrepreneur earlier this year. 2 days ago I did an interview for my podcast with a gentleman from Ethiopia about the state of PM in his country. He recommended that I read the 7 habits. But as a podcaster I prefer audio books and was wondering to myself if it was available in this format.

Imagine my surprise upon finding your post. Exactly what I needed.

My plan is to order the book and then sometime down the road I will give my analysis on the podcast in regards to whether these 7 habits are applicable to project managers. I assume they are but the question is "how". What is your view of how they apply to our profession?

Until next time,

Hi Cornerlius - I read the books but *loved* the audio set as it gives an overview of each "habit" in a bite-size chunk without getting too heavy in the details. I would recommend reading/listening to the complete series at some point, but this is a great intro.

I do feel the "7 Habits" series is very applicable to project managers, and any profession, really, as it is a foundation for living a happy, succssful, balanced life - personal and professional. I believe there are CD sets for each "book", perhaps they are available as audio downloads via iTunes or audible.com, but if you are looking for an introduction to the series you can't go wrong with the special edition mentioned in my post.

Note: I did purchase a copy for a friend. It was an easy install/download on her PC via audible.com. It was $10, in case you don't have/use iTunes.
