I've been bugging Alec from Making Project Management Better ever since I joined twitter and he's been kind enough to help me out time and again. Today we scrounged the depths of twitter (ok, really, we just used the search functionality) for common project management hash tags in order to better categorize our PM tweets - there are more than I thought!
I'm writing this post in hopes of spreading the word and getting some feedback, either here or within twitter, on how we can keep this list updated (or stored somewhere else) so that PMs can have access to the list of hash tags and know how to better tag their tweets to make them more searchable.
Several PMs have asked about hash tags - what they are, how/when to use them, etc. Here are a few links to hopefully answer those questions, and also a list of what I believe is a start at some popular PM hash tags currently being used now by project managers on twitter:

Have info on one of the tags above? Better yet - have one to add to the list? Leave a comment or send me a tweet and I'll update this post: @ravenyoung.
If anyone has a suggestion for a better place to store this info for easier access to the PM community on twitter - let me know!

Hi Raven,
Nice idea to gather this in one place and pull together ideas from other PMs.
Would be nice if we could agree on the top 5 or 6, and use those consistently.
I've been hesitant to use #pmot too much for fear of clogging it up with "less interesting" tweets.
How do others use these PM #hash tags?
Alec
Raven - Don't forget #pmiagile for the agile community being formed at PMI.
Alec - I the pic I used in the post is a screen shot from a search on "# hash tag" - Hopefully you can see the funny response noting over use.
I too have been afraid of over-tagging my PM related tweets with #pmot. I'm not really sure how others are using the the tags, but I don't want to clog twitter search with extraneous PM hashed tweets.
As I mentioned in my email, I think the PM community on twitter is still emergent and we've only just begun to reach out to one another - which is awesome!
Bob - Ah, I knew there were more out there! #pmiagile has been added to the list. Thank you for your help!
Also - Hal Macomber asked that I add the following, via twitter: #lastplanner, #leanproject and #pmi (how did I miss THAT one??)
Thanks guys!
Anything else missing from the list? Leave a comment or send me a tweet ala twitter: ravenyoung
I suggest to put this list on a wiki page.
Dennis Stevens (@dennisstevens)is the founder of the #PMOT group on twitter and he sent me this tweet earlier today:
"@ravenyoung Don't be concerned about clogging #PMOT we need to get the conversation going. Use the tag to build the community."
So, that answers that question! No more worrying about clogging the pipes, no need to purchase that bottle of liquid plumber ;)
Also, I noted that the #PMOT group was established on January 15th, 2009 - just shy of three months ago - and there are 128 -scratch that -131 members, though some look to be duplicates or errors. I thought there would be more of us PM's signed up, for some reason, though I know folks are flocking to twitter like crazy so the group will be packed in no time.
I spreat the word on my blog too now :-)

i just spread the word today on twitter in order to inform new followers of mine. Do you think we should do this from time to time? just like mashable tweets about followfriday weekly.
What about thinking of a pm monday once or twice a month?
Just wondering ...
Cheers, Andrea
Thoguht I'd leave a comment ratherthan tweet :-) I'm using the #pmot tag more and more. I think it is a great idea.
Also, is there any way to get the hashtag #webpm added to your list?
Cheers,
Cola
Andrea - Thanks for continuing to spread the word of PMOT, it really does help build the community of PMs on twitter. I think having a PM day is a great idea! Everyday is project day - Risky mitigation Monday, Triple Constraint Tuesday, What'sa good one for Wednesday??
Cola - #webpm has been added above and will be added to the new #PMOT wiki that Dennis Stevens (@dennisstevens) set up for the #PMOT group on twitter.
That reminds me.. I just received access to the new wiki today. I will be adding the hashtags and working on adding other content to make the wiki a useful resource to project managers on twitter. More info to come on the wiki. For now, it's exciting to know we're getting there - a self organizing group of project managers on twitter, all reaching out, finding what's useful, what works and what doesn't, interacting with each other and making good things happen! It's a fun time to be a PM!

Hi!
Of late , I heard that some institutes are giving crash courses on "Tweeting" and PMI is coming up with new certification for PM Tweeters - TMP (Tweet Management Professional)!
Elementary schools are now conducting "Tweet Language" classes."Twitter-English Dictionary" is also available @ Amazon for purchase.
Why dont you check out PM Karma for my latest book "Becoming a better PM by Tweeting" here !
Cheers!

Nice concept!! The thing is that Twitter is an active place for project managers and i think that is the reason why basecamp is using twitter for spreading its word. Like in our company we used basecamp (www.basecamphq.com) for project management purposes and it changed the email email games we used to play. Though now we use Proofhub Proofhub as our project management system you can use some but this 1 is the best from all that we have used and at a good price. Thanx for the post
Thanks for sharing this post
twitter has now become the place for
pmi and it is spreading
